We learn to embrace the unknown and throw ourselves to the great vastness of the universe, only if our feet take us away from our familiar routines, say on an Adelaide first class flight. Our feet learns to tread a different path and hearts beat to a different rhythm.
Here are some major takeaways from travelling.
- There’s nothing to fear- but fear itself.
To get the most out of travel, we need to place our doubts and insecurities at the top of our luggage and step out of our comfort zones on a regular basis. Maybe, hop off a cliff in Peru or swim with sharks in Australia, after taking business class flights to Melbourne and feel more alive than ever. Take risks and enjoy the thrill both while on a trip and at home.
- We learn every day.
We learn a new word, a new dance, taste a new flavour or observe a new tradition; while we are travelling through new places. Learn about the thriving aboriginal art culture of Australia after you travel on business class flights to Perth. The more places we see, the more we realize we haven’t seen many. The more we learn new things- the more we realize we don’t know. We realize- Life is a continuous process of experiences and learning.
- We discover new passions.
Exposures to new cultures sometimes makes one realize that you could be passionate about something. Who knows that the operatic lyrics of Italy may make your heart soar, or that you may suffer an adrenaline rush sandboarding in the Australian deserts.
- We learn to make relationships.
Many a times, we make friendships overnight on a trip, say on business class flights to Alice Springs and then a couple of years later meet them in some other country. We meet hundreds of persons while traveling- out of which we make great lifelong friendships with only some; who are low maintenance and even when we meet 10 years down the line, it seems no time lapsed in between.
The notion of college- career- marriage- children- retirement- death seems pointless, when you travel. You come across so many wonderful things to do, to discover, to take risks, to enjoy (or even suffer) differently from the routine; you feel even one lifetime would be less to accomplish all of these. You will learn to live in the present.
- We realize that strangers can be “good & helpful” too.
Sometimes it may happen that we are stuck up in the middle of nowhere, with no help in sight. Suddenly out of nowhere, a stranger comes along, helps us and saves the day for us. Similarly, we should give back to the society by say- sparing a few seconds to giving directions to the nearest railway station or something special we saw.
- We learn to listen, not always boast.
After travelling a lot and coming across others’ experiences, we gain new perspectives by listening to what others have to share.
